Week 4 Homework and Notes
WEEK 4: We worked on our obedience outside. I didn't take any video, as I was more hands-on than I expected.
In addition to the Week 3 work, which now should start to take place outside in distractions (not too many distractions; the yard is fine), we talked about the following:
- Work on your auto sits. Remember, this has replaced random sit work, so we want these to be understood and completed every time you stop in a heel. Also, sit is being worked on when you practice stay and so on.
- Work on your downs, and please use the under-the-foot method consistently. Take the time to drop the leash on the floor before giving the command. This is a cue that we get rid of later when Nova can do three sets of four in a row downs while you are standing. Work this inside if you need to at first.
- Long line work for the start of "Let's Go" (and will work for the come as well) has been started this week and is the very beginning of off leash work. This takes roughly 25 minutes, so maybe rotate it every other day with the other exercises. There is video of me with another dog with the directions in the link.
